animals project evaluation
Animals project evaluation
When I looked at
peter Clark I found his work intriguing and it drew me in but after attempts at
mimicking his work I discovered my hatred for this media as it made me
frustrated me having to find pieces of newspaper or similar material to fit in
to my design, and I hopefully will never have to work with this media again. I
think it went well; I would’ve liked it to turn out better than it did and I
would’ve liked to enjoy that part of the project if I did perhaps it would’ve
been better.
The three animals
I chose were a kitten, an owl and a sheep, I chose the kitten because like the
kitten I can have sudden random bursts of energy and it’s usually when you
least expect it, I chose the owl because I’m not a morning person I tend to be
more alive at night and it is when I feel most comfortable. I chose the sheep
because they tend to travel in herds and I don’t like being stuck on my own
somewhere not having anyone to talk to. I would say I am most like the sheep I
always try to have someone with me it could be like a survival instinct to have
someone else with you in case anything went wrong so that they were there to
help you out. Out of the three I chose the owl as I believed that I could draw
it more accurately than the others, I then drew this animal in different styles
e.g. silhouette, watercolour animated.
My final piece will
be a 3d model as I believe it would be a better representation of an owl and be
more effective to a viewer than it would be in 2d. I have created a basic card
cut-out of my final piece to help me visualise what I’m going to do, I’m going
to pile the cardboard for the eyes to make it more 3d and use the length of the
cardboard to support the sides of the sculpture.
I’m unsure if I
will improve my model making skills I believe that planning is key for
something like this so if I keep to my plan I should get the results I expected
on this project I think I handled my time management well although I could’ve
spent more time on my pieces but I think it’s because I didn’t really enjoy
this project that much. Although I discovered on this project I don’t really
like collage I think overall it went pretty well.

experimental portrait project evaluation
Experimental portrait project evaluation
I decided to choose
another person to study rather than myself as I felt it would be easier to draw
someone who I see most of the time instead of myself as I can’t look at myself
when creating the pieces. I decided the artists I would research were Maggi Hambling,
baptise and Andy Warhol I chose these three artists because I felt that they
were more detailed in their artwork and doing an example of Maggi Hamblings
work helped me when painting a my peer, I also learnt from my previous topic to
be more observant and pay close attention to certain colours and where they
should be placed.
I believe my mood
boards were quite affective as I used a range of different media on several
images and also included some of my peers interests into it as well which I think
resonates well with the pieces. Although I would’ve liked to include several
other types of media e.g. brusho ink and bleach. On my final piece I could’ve incorporated
more into my piece taking into account for me the main goal was it had to look
good, I don’t think certain media like sgraffito would’ve worked well with it. Overall
I believe I have improved upon my experimental drawing skills as I only used
what I was comfortable with instead of things that were new to me even though I
didn’t use many different kinds on my final piece.
I feel I have
improved upon time management as I managed to get everything done but I feel
that because I enjoyed this project more than the others before it helped me
remain focused on my work and get my work finished to a better standard . I feel
I have created good mood boards and a good final piece although I would’ve been
happier if I had included more media to both as it might’ve improved upon my
pieces.
I enjoyed this
project more as it explored things I’m more comfortable with which is why I think
this project has gone better than the others before it and also why I think
that my quality of work has improved and I have also found myself drawing
things related toward my peer I based this project on for example he enjoys
fashion and models and I drew several fashion designer sheets including
characters from Disney which he likes as well.

peter clark
Peter Clark
Peter Clark is a
collage artist mainly he uses newspaper in his art he also concentrates on the
animal kingdom in his work, although he does make pieces unrelated to them for
example he created a biker jacket made of bibles, when asked about this he stated
that “I try to inflict what amuses me onto my work”. Most collage artists their
pieces of artwork out of newspaper or tissue paper peter Clark also uses maps
and many other sources.
I like Peter
Clarks work due to his variety of sources and how he manages to fit them
perfectly together introducing colour and shading into his pieces. In his work I
enjoy how he uses maps in his work which I believe add more character to it and
I believe it also suggest a journey. Also I like the way he mixes his work with
small ironic gestures. It also must be very difficult to do collage work
because you have to find pieces of paper that fit in with the design.

evaluation arts and crafts
Evaluation
arts and crafts
I didn’t use any primary research all my photos
were secondary this included books on the arts and crafts movement which also
included several other artist works besides Morris and Mackintosh, I also got
some of my research from Pinterest and Google images because there were a wider variety of images to choose from. On my
mood board I decided to study both of their works because I like them both
Mackintosh because of how he uses lines in his glass windows, and Morris
because of the way he portrays and colours his flowers on his pieces.

I don’t think my contemporary artist really
supported my theme because his media was portraits in a graphite pencil but at
the time I thought it would be a good idea to study him to improve my drawing skills
in this project. The experimentation I used included puff binder, I had to
paint it on some card in a particular pattern and heat it with a heat gun as it
rose. Mark making was where I had to use different objects to create different
patterns like a sponge or a fork. I also
studied batik which involved using hot wax to mark out our drawn design with a
device called a tjanting, when the wax cooled we coloured it with ink then
after the ink dried we melted the wax with the iron. We also experimented with
weaving and sewing, I enjoyed weaving on the peg loom as it was far easier than
a cardboard loom as I had to use a plastic needle to weave in and out of the
cotton. The sewing I didn’t enjoy at all as each time I tried to pierce the
paper all the holes would often make one big hole.
The health and safety in workshop varied it was
mainly to have your goggles on and hair tied back but in certain workshops we
also had to sign in and wear aprons we also had to be careful when using the
heat gun we had to keep our hands away from the nozzle and we also had to make
sure we didn’t set the paper on fire with it. Also when using the sewing
machine we had to be careful where we placed our hands so the needle didn’t impale
your hand.
When I received the feedback on my work I was
told to add more colour to my mood board In my drawings so I did which makes
that piece look more fuller and more vibrant, I also developed the shading on
my contemporary critical study. The strengths to my work are that I believe my
composition, my painting skill and my painting skill.
If I had to redo this work again I would definitely
handle my time management better I think I would benefit from better time
management. I didn’t like batik experimental work it wasn’t easy and soon became
messy after a few strokes of wax. I think my contemporary critical study was
some of my best portrait work although I could’ve improved on it I also enjoyed
working on the portraits too. Also as I explained before my time management wasn’t
on point and I had to rush toward the end which didn’t improve my artwork.
weaving

the weaving on a peg loom i found quite easy and i also enjoyed it i didnt like weaving on a cardboard loom though as it required a needle to go in and out of the cotton and it was quite fiddly.
At the end we had to make sure the strands were tied it was more complicated to do that on the peg loom as we had to pull the pegs up and over to cut the strands and tie them. the first three strands and the last three tie together whereas the rest of them are only tied to one other.
