experimental

The mark making was fun although i prefer working with precision; we had to use what was at hand rather than a paintbrush. I used a sponge a fork and a spatula to create this effect.

Batque was quite difficult I was using hot wax which I had to control to go in certain areas and it would often go out of the lines, painting was easier because it wouldn’t go out of the wax lines.
Its drying time was the worst thing about this piece as it connected in one area because it was so watery.

This I found quite easy because I was basically painting, I had to use this white adhesive to paint on my design so that when I heated it up it would rise from the paper which made it look and feel like foam.

metal work

In metalwork we did embossing, etching, piercing out, annealing and 3d pieces.
I started with embossing which meant I had to anneal (heat up) the copper so it would be more bendy for me to roll through with a texture to make it emboss.
I then used stop out to draw on a design so that when I placed it in the acid the stop out would prevent it from affecting the design, I then cleaned it with wire wool so it was shiny.
On the third piece of metal I covered it in stop out and scraped off the design so it would have the opposite effect to the brass metal, unfortunately it didn’t turn out so well.
On the fourth piece of metal I cut pieces of duct tape on it and placed it in the acid and I also cleaned it with wire wool afterwards.
i enjoyed using the rollers and the torch, the acid after a while would give me a headache so i didnt enjoy using that i enjoyed using the devise that created a dome because when they came out they reminded me of bolts.

objects on black paper

With my first lesson with claire i did this as part of my project i think it couldve gone better, i dont like the bottle or the duck but i do like the feather i think i got the right colours in there and it also looks like a feather which is great.

mixed backround

On my mixed media background project I had to draw on ink, white paint as a textured background, different types of paper and brusho drawing with bleach.
On the brusho background it was quite difficult because I knew I had only one try but the bleach was very effective as it removed the brusho from the paper leaving a white outline.
The white paint background was very difficult also as it didn’t easily allow the coloured pencil to be embedded in it so I had to go over it several times.
The ink was easy to draw on but I had to place my objects carefully so it would fit in.
The paper background was the most difficult because the different papers had different textures so the newspaper and the parcel paper wouldn’t allow the pencil to mark whereas the black paper would allow it.
