purpose of the art critic

The purpose of an art critic

The role of an art critic is very important as it helps provide a first impression and also tells you whether the art is worth the money of buying it or not, as art is subjective they provide their opinion of such art and if you agree you will likely trust their judgement again on another piece. The critics that are around today like most people have their own style and probably prefer different styles of art to another person just like the audience would. Art critics also force artists, sculptors and other craftsmen to up their game and produce a higher standard of work if it is to survive the art world providing constructive criticism often helping them with their target audience for their next piece. But I believe their work is mainly for promotional purposes helping the artist to get their name out there as well as to encourage the artists to keep on pursuing their craft giving them well needed courage as all artists are looking for people to enjoy their work.
