magna carta

The Magna Carta is a document that established that everyone including the king was subject to the law and must follow it. This document was originally formed while king john was ruling. This document maintains the right to a free trial and several other clauses relating to human rights although it shaped the modern world we live in today there are only three clauses that remain as a part of the law. Most of the magna carter relates to the ownership of land and taxes of the people. Some today still believe the Magna Carta to be the foundations of Great Britain’s democracy that we live in today.

freedom evaluation

Freedom project evaluation

For this project I mainly focused on different aspects of freedom and its opposites I think I did this because I thought I could take different ideas from the two different sides this included forced marriages, freedom quotes, immigration, disability, mental illness and I also included symbolism. As well as my 63 pages that I had to do I also decided to do a small a4 sketchbook, with pages telling you about influential people and artists including, Malala Yousafzai a fighter for her right to an education despite the Taliban’s best efforts and Keith Haring an subway artist that later started a foundation based around aids after getting the disease himself.
I decided to write a critical study on Banksy a graffiti artist whose work has reached out to a lot of people he writes with pictures, he tends to say things in this way that no one else would dare. I like how he uses his talent to speak the truth about society. My main issue was planning although I knew what I was wanting to do it was getting it down on paper trying to plan everything out I didn’t really have any Idea what I was going to do each and every lesson and later at home what I will be planning to do so I gave myself a basic plan to do. I would do the 63 pieces and a small a4 sketchbook and an artist statement as well as the final piece which at the start I had no idea about what I was hoping to accomplish.
I think this project went well although I wish I could’ve been able to restart the final piece and I think my time management could have been better I would have liked more time on this project mainly because of the 63 pieces I was fast running out of ideas near to the end, I would’ve also liked more time to consider my options for my final piece.

project proposal

I think my idea of freedom is to be comfortable and happy wherever you are without pain or conflict, I will incorporate some things where freedom has been taken away in order to deepen the effect of this piece hopefully highlighting that there is injustice in the world and that we are lucky to live where we live and understand there are still places where freedom is taken from people, hopefully this will give a bit of weight to my artwork, also I am doing this because I find a piece of art has to have two sides to it in order for it to be fully appreciated. I also believe I will incorporate different types of freedom like psychological, physical and emotional.
I think mainly I’m going to focus on influential people e.g. Martin Luther King Audrey Hepburn malala yousafazai and many others or people that fought for freedom I may also put emphasis on life when freedom is taken away e.g. forced marriages, segregation in communities, religious aspects and physical images of freedom that has been lost, slavery, Indians in America and perhaps immigration as it is quite a large topic these days with the elections coming up, I could also include women in society and how they weren’t granted the vote. I will also use symbolism on my 63 squares e.g. a bird flying from a cage and perhaps an eagle. I will aim to use different media and perhaps use different ways of working on something e.g. stencils and printmaking. I will look into different artists e.g. Banksy and Frida Kahlo and try to replicate their work and do some research into their background. As well as this I will aim to visit art galleries (civic) and other websites in order to broaden my research on this topic. I will aim to create a small sketchbook roughly 10 or more pages in A3 or A4 size I will also do a final piece in which I will try to establish the theme of freedom and also incorporate many different types of media on it and I might display my 63 pieces in a circular fashion but I have not quite decided on that yet.
For my evaluation I will write about it at the end of my project including whether or not I enjoyed it and why I chose the things that I did as well as a peer assessment and I will write whether or not I could’ve used a bit more time and effort on it also including if I followed up on any annotations and whether I did the same with my blog and my pinterest page.

barnsley pics

for this project we were told we needed to collect some primary research in order to use the pictures on our boxes so we went around the town photographing any building which we thought we could use as a reerence to paint from.

matisse exhibition

When looking at the Matisse exhibition I didn’t seem that overwhelmed although I think I should have as he was a very famous artist. I am not very interested in his style of art I find it quite confusing and unusual although I prefer his human figures to the rest of his work I like how they are positioned it’s quite lifelike.
