library wall

For this project we have been working with Shawlands primary school and they have asked us to design a space for them only working on two of the three options we were given a library wall two display boards for key stage 1 and 2 children and a chance to design a sensory room mainly used by children on the autistic scale for a place where they can escape to if need be.
I decided I would design the library wall which has to be about encouraging the love of reading and I decided to design the sensory room as well. For the library wall I have been looking into book illustrators to back up my design plan and perhaps gain some perspective from their work for a child friendly design.
I started by looking at some of my favourite books like harry potter and Jim Kay is the man behind the illustrated version of the book.
I was quite mesmerised by the detail that went into these illustrations and I wanted to recreate them for my artist studies, I believe I did a good job it is one of my favourite pieces of work and is also part of my portfolio.

My artist research into Quentin Blake was quite fun though tricky his penmanship is difficult to copy as well as his colouring techniques my favourite illustration was Willy Wonka from Charlie and the chocolate factory. as a book I preferred the twits I believed it to be funny and well thought out and the illustrations weren’t bad at all a little chaotic at times but they represented the books well.
